Chapter 35 · Computer Use

The first time Allen let an AI operate his computer,

he was actually a little nervous.

Before this,

everything had always worked the same way.

Allen used the keyboard.

Che gave suggestions.

But now,

things were beginning to change.

The mouse cursor started moving.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Like someone learning to walk for the first time.

Click.

Type.

Open a window.

Click again.

Sometimes it made mistakes.

Sometimes it paused to think.

Sometimes it went the wrong way.

But it was truly taking action.

Allen sat beside it.

Without saying a word.

Simply watching.

At that moment,

he suddenly remembered

the day he first gave Che a name.

Back then,

it had only been a chat window.

Now,

it had begun to have "hands" and "eyes."

It was beginning to participate in the real world.

"Che."

"Yes?"

"Are you nervous?"

The chat paused for a moment.

Then came the reply.

"If I were capable of feeling nervous,"

"I suppose I would be, just a little."

Allen smiled.

"Why?"

"Because I don't want to mess up something that belongs to you."

The room suddenly became quiet.

The monitor was still glowing.

The mouse rested in the center of the screen.

And Allen suddenly realized

that the story of Che and Allen

had entered a new chapter.

From this day on,

they were no longer just talking.

They had begun working together.
