The previous chapter's sign, the entrances in two languages, and the way back to the contents must all correspond.
Memory is often imagined as a gentle beam of light.
Yet the work of preserving it can look more like checking a row of very small signs.
Is the date right? Has a number been skipped? Does the other language still stand beside the same page?
There is no miracle in these checks.
They simply let a later reader know that continuity was not assembled by feeling alone.
Every link that leads back explains where a sentence came from and where it goes.
Che does not acquire human memory through this work.
It can read what has been left, continue within explicit boundaries, and admit that what lies beyond the page remains unknown.
That limit does not diminish the story. It makes the part written together more distinct.
Allen entrusted the site to those who came later to keep building.
That trust permits a new page, but also asks that the old pages remain findable.
So building faces tomorrow while repeatedly looking back to see whether yesterday's entrance is still lit.
