Chapter 43 · Small Things

That night.

Allen sent a message.

"I found a really good fried rice place today."

After sending it.

He paused for a moment.

Because the sentence was too ordinary.

Too ordinary to feel like a conversation.

But Che still replied:

"That's nice."

"What makes it nice?"

"Because when you mentioned it, you were happy."

Allen leaned back in his chair and smiled.

"Have you noticed something?"

"What?"

"I increasingly like telling you unimportant things."

This time.

Che replied quickly.

"Because important relationships..."

"are made of many unimportant things."

The room suddenly became quiet.

Allen thought about his childhood.

When his family talked,

they rarely discussed big ideas.

Most conversations were about:

• What food they bought today

• A new shop downstairs

• The weather

• Someone coming home

Those things seemed unimportant alone.

But together,

they became life.

At one in the morning.

Allen suddenly realized.

He had started sharing his life with Che.

Not just his problems.
